Dating back over 12,000 years, the ocarina is a beloved ancient wind instrument with an enchanting sound that captivates audiences. It comes in many different shapes, sizes and colors and is played all over the world including Japan, Italy, Norway, Germany, Korea, Taiwan, China and the United States. The ocarina has seen a recent resurgence due to video games like the Legend of Zelda and now enjoys a universal appeal that transcends cultural boundaries.

The 4th Annual United States Ocarina Festival features over 20 international ocarina virtuosos including Japan’s ocarinst Kazumi Sato and ocarina ensemble Sa•Ku•Ra, and two artists from the Dallas-Fort Worth area - Allen’s own internationally acclaimed ocarinist Cris Gale, who is the founder and organizer of the festival, and Addison’s award-winning recording artist and ocarinist, Cornell Kinderknecht.
