Anita M. Martinez Ballet Folklorico will presents A Tale of Two Quinces. A young American family of Mexican descent is blessed with twin girls. The parents are determined that the girls, though American by birth, have a deep love for, and an appreciation of Mexican culture and traditions. As the girls grow up, though twins, they couldn’t be more different. One embraces all things American- parties, fashion, and sports. The other is focused on her future-college, travel, and the study of all things Mexican. Both girls hope to go to college.
As the girls approach their 15th birthday, their ailing Grandmother, their Abuela, gives each of the girls a lovely inheritance. Should they use the money to travel? Should it be saved to pay for college expenses? Or will the girls follow the tradition of their Mother and Grandmother, and have a beautiful Quinceanera?
Filled with the songs and dances of many generations, this show is an explosion of colorful costumes, international music and the joy of blossoming youth. It also includes a fashion show of the exquisite Quinceanera gowns designed by one of Dallas’ finest young designers.
