In this exhibit, Tony Strickland explores the intersection of human creativity and artificial intelligence through a dynamic series of original mixed media paintings. Using the generative AI platform MidJourney to develop visual references, Strickland translated digital concepts into richly layered physical works that combine oil paint, tar, burlap, and other materials. The exhibition features a striking mix of large and small paintings, accompanied by a display of the original AI-generated reference images to highlight the transformation from machine-made inspiration to human-made expression. This body of work invites viewers to reflect on the power and peril of emerging technologies. As AI continues its rapid advance toward Artificial General Intelligence, "Caution" becomes both a title and a statement, raising critical questions about control, and the future of human agency in a world increasingly shaped by machines.
