Avant Chamber Ballet will present a special one-night only gala performance in celebration of their 10th Anniversary Celebration. The performance will feature a new work by legendary dancer, teacher, and choreographer Jock Soto in collaboration with world-renowned musician and composer Laura Ortman, who will perform live at the show. The new work, titled My Soul Remainer, is a poignant and modern ballet that will reflect on Soto and Ortman’s indiginous heritage.
The second world premiere of the night will be Katie Puder’s Rhapsody in Blue, performed live by international piano soloist Anna Bulkina with costumes designed by Alina Khoo of AK Dancewear. The new ballet will be a celebration of Avant Chamber Ballet’s style of ballet and movement.
The performance will also include George Balanchine’s Concerto Barocco, one of Balanchine’s most famous masterpieces interpreting Bach’s Double Violin Concerto performed live by Eleanor Dunbar and Lauren Haseltine. Christopher Wheeldon’s The American pas de deux will complete the evening. ACB has performed the work three times before and is beloved for its complex partnering and romantic tone.
