Avant Chamber Ballet presents Rhythm and Romance

eventdetail

The final show of the season, Avant Chamber Ballet’s Women’s Choreography Project splits the mixed repertoire program, Rhythm and Romance, with none other than legendary choreographer George Balanchine. To close the program Katie Cooper will premiere her new ballet, Persuasion, to Astor Piazzolla's fiery and sensual music, accompanied by world-renown violinist Kim Chee-Yun.

Rounding out the bill, ACB restages Janie Richard’s crtically acclaimed ballet L’Inverno from last year’s WCP, a new piece by company dancer Kaitlyn McDermitt, and Balachine’s Walpurgisnacht Ballet. Walpurgisnacht Ballet is the biggest Balanchine ballet ACP has done to this point with 25 dancers. Dallas-based dancer and choreographer Hailey von Schlehnried was selected from 60 applications from around the world as this year’s Women Choreographer’s Project’s commission for a new work.
