A fairy king and fairy queen get into a lover's spat and cause the coldest summer Athens has seen in centuries. Actors meet to rehearse Shakespeare in the Park, lovers run to and from each other, all expecting a warm midsummer night... but when the weather turns for the worst, even magical donkey fur isn't enough to keep everyone warm and safe.
Bare Bones Shakespeare presents a new twist on an old favorite. Using their signature Company Directed style inspired by Shakespeare’s own rehearsal practices, the six actors have the freedom to explore and present their roles without a director or months of rehearsal. The actors receive scripts and opportunities to collaborate on their ideas together early in the process, then break for a few weeks to work on their lines and conceptualize their characters individually. The company then returns to combine our work into a shared production, just a few days before opening the play. Our minimalist aesthetic allows our actors and audiences to build the world of the play together through their shared experience of the text and the action.
