Barry Whistler Gallery presents Dan Rizzie and his first solo show with the gallery titled Prints, Collages, Monograph.
A book signing of his new University of Texas Press monograph will take place the same day. A new suite of 10 prints from Tandem Press will be featured along with recent collages and paintings.
Rizzie’s association with Dallas goes back to the 1970s when he was a student at SMU and began showing his work at Dallas’ Delahunty Gallery. In the late 70s and early 80s, Whistler and Rizzie worked together on solo and group shows when Whistler was the director at Delahunty. Since 1989, Rizzie has lived and worked in Sag Harbor, New York.
Rizzie continues his impeccably crafted works of simple shapes, often within modeled spatial illusions of collage and texture. The 190-page monograph features essays by Jane Livingston, Terrie Sultan, and Mark Smith with over 100 color reproductions.
Following the opening reception, the exhibit will be on display through January 16, 2016.
