Dan Rizzie was born in Poughkeepsie, New York and now resides in Sag Harbor, NY. The artist has been described as one of the most successful collage artists of the 20th century. His collage work often depicts organic forms and references to nature. Some of his iconic imagery includes birds and botany. Rizzie’s extensive travels around the world have also heavily impacted his work.
"Collages: 1980-2022" will quite simply be comprised of collage works spanning the artist's forty-year career. Rizzie’s clever use of line to lead the eye can be seen in several of the works included in this exhibition. The artist juxtaposes contemporary means with traditional representational motifs to create pieces with little to no depth leaving the viewer with the ability to focus on line, and the delicacy of the collaged elements.
Following the opening reception, the exhibit will be on view through May 7.
