The festival takes place along Irving’s picturesque Mandalay Canals and Lake Carolyn and showcases the dance, music, art, and foods of many countries.
Now in its 5th year, Canal Fest has been expanded to feature four distinct areas (Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas), each with its own performance stage.
Attendees will enjoy entertainment by over 30 groups on these stages, such as flamenco, Middle Eastern belly dance, Polish folk dance, German Alpine dance, and the internationally celebrated Drummers of Burundi. Many of these performances will have an interactive element, so festival-goers could even find themselves on stage learning to hula or beat a Taiko drum.
There will also be craft stations, international gifts for sale, henna tattoos, and of course, a mouthwatering array of street food from around the world, including Caribbean, Indian, Mexican, Italian and classic American fare.
Lake and canal-side activities are free, but guests who want to get out on the water can rent stand-up paddleboards or aqua-cycles, or hire an authentic Venetian gondola.
