As the first ever production in the Latino Cultural Center’s new multiform Black Box Theatre, Cara Mía Theatre presents Virginia Grise’s artistic and political manifesto Your Healing is Killing Me.
Director Kendra Ware sets the performance on a New York City street, rushing to project "a sense of normal" despite a deadly pandemic. Actor Florinda Bryant conjures tactics and strategies for self-defense on the stage, at a moment we need it most.
Your Healing is Killing Me urges communities to take their care and protection into their own hands, in order to create new ways of being, beyond the manipulations of capitalism. Because nothing about this moment is normal.
The production is part of the Latindades festival.
