In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, Cara Mía Theatre will launch its season with Dallas’s largest international Latino theatre festival, the 7th Annual Latinidades Festival & Symposium.

- 2026 Latinidades Festival Kickoff (September 26 - 5-10 pm)
The free Kickoff launches the Festival with a community procession featuring puppets and music, followed by movement theatre, dance, live music, and poetry. Featured artists include Escultores del Aire from Barcelona, Las de Allá Dance Collective from Austin, Cara Mía Theatre, and Dallas-area artists.
- 3rd Annual Latinidades Arts Symposium: Sustaining the Arts through Alternative Models (October 1 - 1-5:30 pm and October 2 - 10 am-5:30 pm.)
A two-day collaborative laboratory for artists, cultural leaders, educators, and arts organizations. Participants will explore new approaches to artistic creation, operations, funding, AI, peer mentorship, collaboration, and community development. Featured participants include Diego Fernando Montoya, Sage Crump, Thomas Riccio, Vicki Meek, and Rosalba Rolón.
- BRUMA - Teatro del Cielo, Cuenca, Ecuador (October 1 - 8 pm; October 3 - 6 pm, and October 4 - 2:30 pm)
Two virtuosos of physical theatre reveal humanity’s eternal conflict with bureaucracy - even in the afterlife. When Anastasia dies, she encounters an office where she must complete mandatory procedures before continuing her journey and determining the fate of her soul.
- Leave a Message After the Beep - Pregones/Puerto Rican Traveling Theater, Bronx, New York (October 2 - 8 pm and October 3 - 8 pm)
A bilingual musical theatre experience weaving Puerto Rican poetry, memoir, music, and memory. Foundational Nuyorican voices and contemporary poets from Puerto Rico create a living dialogue between the island and its diaspora.
- Alien Number (Work-In-Progress) - Las de Allá Dance Collective, Austin, Texas (October 4 - 5 pm)
Through dance, visual art, and spoken-word poetry, Alien Number explores Latine identity, immigrant stories, and collective resilience. This work-in-progress is being developed through a Latinidades residency with Mai Rojas and Escultores del Aire.
- F.PUNK JUNKIES - Cara Mía Theatre & Soul Rep Theatre present Teo Castellanos D-PROJECTS, Miami, Florida (October 8 - 8 pm; October 9 -8 pm; October 10 - 8 pm; and October 11 - 2:30 pm)
Punk music and ecstatic movement ignite Orisha narratives and Caribbean folktales, transforming into femme power, anti-colonial rebellion, and mosh-pit liberation. Six archetypes gather to share stories of an anti-colonial femme fatale, a secret society of beautiful femmes, and reunification in the mosh pit. F.PUNK JUNKIES is the eighth Café/Negro Series collaboration between Cara Mía Theatre and Soul Rep Theatre.
