Carya String Quartet will explore the cross-cultural music of composers who incorporated styles from far-off lands. Through music of Glazunov, Dvořák, and Puccini, this educational concert shows how composers synthesized European classical music with the information and expectations they had of other countries’ and cultures’ music.
On the program are selections from Alexander Glazunov’s "Five Novelettes Op. 15," Antonín Dvořák’s "String Quartet No. 12 in F Major, Op. 96" (“American Quartet”), and Giacomo Puccini’s "Madama Butterfly."
Following the live event on May 16, the recording will be available to view through May 31.
