In a sport that looks more sci-fi than NASCAR, drone racing has taken off across the United States. Addison’s Cavanaugh Flight Museum will celebrate the fun and festivities of drone racing when they host the 1st Annual Cavanaugh Flight Museum Drone Race. These indoor races, which will be hosted in an 11,000 square foot aircraft hangar, showcases drones racing head to head on a precision 3-D obstacle course.

In each heat, the winning drone will be the one which crosses the finish line first after completing the course with the fewest number of course infractions.  Course infractions include:

  • Touching an obstacle
  • Flying outside the proper course
  • Touching the ground
  • Pilot stepping out of the ‘cockpit’ area

The carefully crafted, netted course includes hoops, pylons, bridges, turns and slaloms. There are three classes for entries: beginner, intermediate and expert. Trophies will be awarded for first through third place in each class. Registration can be made by contacting Cavanaugh Flight Museum.
