Cancer Support Community North Texas will present Dr. Lucy Kalanithi, widow of neurosurgeon and now-deceased New York Times Bestselling author of When Breath Becomes Air, Dr. Paul Kalanithi. The event is aimed at bringing attention to the importance of “whole-person cancer care” at a time when 110,000 people in Texas are diagnosed with cancer every year.

The evening event, which benefits Cancer Support Community North Texas and is sponsored by Texas Oncology, honors the first anniversary of the Cancer Moonshot 2020 initiative – now called the Joe Biden Cancer Initiative. The conversation with Kalanithi will share insights into a doctor’s mind at the end of his life, as well as the importance of patient-centered care during a cancer journey, and end-of-life planning.
