Cerulean Gallery kicks off 2025 with “On the Bright Side,” an exhibition featuring artwork by Rob Joyner and Allison Castillo.
Joyner, a resident of University Park, is known for his large-scale abstract paintings consisting of colorful thick layers of plaster and gels. His intricate creative processes channel his anxiety into artistic expression. Joyner titles his pieces after the daily rhythms of parenthood, playful phrases and gentle reminders exchanged between him, his wife, and children. By transforming these earnest moments into titles, he infuses serious, weighted experiences with lightness and joy.
Castillo is known for her "Graffiti Love" paintings, which adorn the walls of Snider Plaza’s Penne Pomodoro and dozens of homes across the Dallas-Fort Worth area and beyond. Castillo will be unveiling new works inspired by positive words and phrases written in vibrant colors and accented with neon lights and vintage frames.
