For the City: The Dallas Festival of Ideas, presented by The Dallas Institute of Humanities and Culture in partnership with The Dallas Morning News, will examine what the next century looks like for Dallas as a physical city, cultural city, innovative city, political city and an educated city. The Dallas Festival of Ideas not only invites, but urges community participation, as a passionate, informed, and united citizenry can and must shape the city of the future.
National keynote speakers like Vishaan Chakrabarti, Ta-Nehisi Coates, Elizabeth Green, Rahaf Harfoush and Luis Alberto Urrea will join fresh local leaders from diverse backgrounds and areas of expertise to help focus the power of ideas on shaping Dallas’ future.
The opening event on Friday night, taking place at Dallas City Performance Hall, will feature the “unveiling” of the Cities, presentations by the keynote speakers, interpretive performances and performances from a variety of arts groups and individuals.
The main event on Saturday will be a day-long parade of speakers talking about the various aspects of Dallas, concluding with more performances, beer and BBQ in the lobby of the Winspear.
