Garland brings back a favorite tradition with the Dia de los Muertos celebration. The city’s historic downtown square will be awash in color and music courtesy of the talented young mariachis, ballet folklorico dancers and other student groups from Garland schools. The square will be filled with traditional marigold and papel picado-bedecked altars, calavera (sugar skull), face painting, other crafts, and festive food and drink like tamales and mangonadas. New this year, the event will also feature a free screening of the Disney/Pixar film Coco.
