Chamber Music International will open its 30th Season with the piano trio of Sheryl Staples, Carter Brey and Dallas favorite Joyce Yang.

The program offers three different piano trios with three contrasting styles from three different genres and eras. Mozart’s classic Piano Trio No. 3 in Bb Major, K. 502 was written in 1786 and was notably regarded as two of his finest work. They will continue the program with Spanish composer, Joaquín Turina, and his Piano Trio No. 2 in B Minor, Op. 76. Written in 1933, Turina composed this piece with distinctive Spanish harmonies and rhythms in an impressionistic way to resemble his education in Paris. The trio will then end the concert with the grandiose Brahm’s Piano Trio No. 1 in B -Minor, Op. 8.

For only one night, CMI will also present its 2015 Young Artist Solo Winner, Emily Chung. Chung, a 16-year-old junior at Frisco Independence High School, has been awarded prizes in numerous competitions such as the Vernell Gregg Young Artist Competition, which allowed her to solo with the Lake Lewisville Symphony, and was also the co-principal cellist of the 2015 TMEA All-State Symphony Orchestra.
