CMI’s 30th Season’s Concert #3 will be featuring the impressive German/South Korean violinist, Clara-Jumi Kang, and Taiwanese pianist, Chih-Yi Chen.
This elegant recital will begin with Debussy’s Violin Sonata, which was Debussy’s last major composition before he passed away in 1918. Kang and Chen will journey through bold melodies, luscious harmonies, and technical mastery of Norwegian composer Edvard Grieg’s Violin Sonata No. 3 (1887). The second half of the program will feature Eugène Ysaÿe’s Sonata Ballade No. 3 which brings a melodious elegance to the listener’s ear. The duo will wrap the performance with the popular Caesar Franck’s Violin Sonata; which was dedicated to Ysaÿe as a wedding present.
