In "The Sea, Eventually," Jules Buck Jones presents a new body of work expanding on the artist’s interests in narratives, relationships, parallels and disparities found in nature. Pivoting between celebratory and mournful, Jones’ work depicts fleeting moments, strange conjunctions, and conflated timescales through abstracted flora and fauna and dense mark making. Jones’ heavy stylization of his imagery is captured in water media on paper, exaggerated by ornately cut frames as well as painted wood cut outs. Both approaches blur the edges of where the work begins and ends.
The exhibit will be on display through July 3.
