In The Once Over Twice, Lily Hanson will create a site-specific installation in Conduit Gallery's Project Room that will serve as a domicile for her small abstract sculptures.
Named for the LA punk band, X's song of the same name, The Once Over Twice describes a certain particularity in the studio with which Hanson began conceptualizing the exhibition. The attitude of this particular music has infiltrated Hanson's studio practice. The show's title and the works in it describe and reflect Hanson's approach, with each sculpture getting the once over twice. Like the mixed media sculptures, comprised of foam, fabric and wood constructions, the end result is both poignant and playfully unhinged.
Following the opening reception, the exhibit will be on display through December 31.
