Jeff Gibbons is a skilled HVAC technician, and an innovative sculptor of found and repurposed materials, but until recently, he has never picked up a paintbrush. Following his show in December of 2018, his upcoming exhibition will not feature the kinetic sculpture or interactive statuesque character that one might be used to in his work.
Gibbons will show a series of new paintings that loosely tell the story of "Planet Sandwich." A story about the future of Planet Earth, as well as a series of paintings, exploring themes such as nuclear war, genetic mutation, childhood development, artificial intelligence, failure, hopelessness and pluck, and the universal appeal and staying power of humankind’s greatest invention,sandwiches.
Following the opening reception, the exhibit will be on view through October 12.
