Conduit Gallery will open three new exhibitions - Susan Barnett: Copenhagen, Jeff Baker: Code and Project Room: Vincent Ramos.

Barnett’s painting practice has flourished in creating a psychological tension between geometric shapes that emerge and disappear into constant gridded grounds. These past experimentations with pure non-objective abstraction and geometry have given way to representational elements informed by the world of particle physics and history.

Walking the streets of New York city during the summer of 2014 with his camera, Baker set himself to the task of documenting the Lower East Side of Manhattan and telling its story as told through the layered wash of the brick walls, backdoors and entryways.

For his first exhibition in the Conduit Gallery Project Room, Ramos will create a sitespecific installation comprised mainly of two separate series of small scale drawings and collages interwoven into the larger installation that investigate the current political immigration debate, class and race issues in America. These investigations are bolstered by references, through materials, and sounds to local historical culture as well as clichéd symbols of the “West” and various personalities from the region, i.e. Trini Lopez, Lee Trevino and Sam the Sham.\

Following the opening reception, the exhibits will be on display through May 9.
