Contemporary Theatre of Dallas starts off its 2014 season with Working, A Musical. Working is a musical exploration of 26 people from all walks of life. The strength of the show is in the core truths that transcend specific professions. People’s relationship to their work ultimately reveals key aspects of their humanity, regardless of the trappings of the job itself.
The show is set in 1978 when Studs Terkel’s book (on which the musical is based) was first published. Terkel’s own work was as an oral historian who interviewed and collected the stories of diverse Americans about their jobs and careers. The book and the musical are a snapshot of the American people and the jobs which define them.
Performance on Thursday, January 23 is pay-what-you-can.
