Cris Worley Fine Arts will present "Funeral Flowers," a solo exhibition of new 2D works by Dallas-based sculptor Josephine Durkin.
Durkin’s art practice is based on the principle that a work of art is built intuitively, through systematic steps, one leading to the next, as each level finds resolution. She works with a variety of media, often using scrapes of previous works that have been cast aside in waiting for its future use.
In recent years, Durkin’s methods have culminated in an ongoing series of 2-dimensional “Flora Works” constructed with sewn digital prints and mixed media. In "Funeral Flowers," Durkin has created the largest-scale iterations of these floral constructions to-date.
The exhibition will be on view through December 30. Durkin will be present at the opening reception, and the gallery will also host an artist’s talk with Durkin on December 3 at 4 pm.
