The FitNation exhibition currently on display at the Dallas Center for Architecture highlights strategies that make the built environment more conducive to healthier lifestyles. Through active design, practical changes to our cities, towns and neighborhoods can encourage physical activity as a part of everyday life, establish healthier routines, and promote exemplary design.
Dallas-area projects in the show include: the Churchill Recreation Center (DSGN Associates), the City of Dallas Park and Recreation Department’s Park Pavilion program (including Elliott and Associates Architects and Snohetta), the Diabetes Health and Wellness Center at Juanita L. Craft Recreation Center (Perkins + Will), La Bajada Urban Youth Farm (UTA School of Architecture), the “Parklet” (bcWorkshop and Downtown Dallas, Inc.), Texas Horse Park’s River Ranch Activity Center and Administration Building (BRW Architects Inc.), and UTD’s Center for BrainHealth (HKS, Inc.).
At this event, several of the architects represented in the show will provide a more in-depth look at their featured projects and talk more about how active design is transforming their work.
The 6:30 p.m. presentation will be preceded by a reception at 6:00 p.m. A donation of $10 is requested at the door. RSVP to info@DallasCFA.com.
