Dallas Arts District presents Fall Block Party | Mexican Independence Day

Dallas Arts District is closing the streets for their free Fall Block Party, celebrating Diez y Seis de Septiembre aka Mexican Independence Day, plus caliente action until midnight at the Dallas Museum of Art, Nasher Sculpture Center and Crow Collection of Asian Art. Participate in special activities including concerts, Pokémon GO Piñatas, Salsa lessons, taco trucks, voter registration, cinema and more.

Experience on-the-street performances by the fantástico Anita N. Martinez Ballet Folklorico | Mariachi Los Unicos de Greiner Middle School | Group salsa lessons with Fernando & Bailarines de Salsa | Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts cast performance of Oklahoma | Jazz with Scott Boni Trio | Beats and threads with Durty Laundry DJ Truck.

Wet your whistle with cerveza, sangria, and libations from Alamo Drafthouse. Grab a bite or dessert from 13+ gourmet food and taco trucks on every corner, with many serving Mexican interpretations of their favorites.

The event will turn Pokémon GO inspired piñatas into real world PokéStops and gyms from. Piñatas are filled with Pokémon figures from all the different generations, special treats, and tokens that can be exchanged for complimentary tickets to Dallas Theater Center Wyly Theatre, TITAS Presents, Dallas Arts District membership cards and more.

Stay ’til Midnight at the Nasher with a KXT concert by Jack Kerowax, followed by a screening of Pleasantville. Visit the Crow Collection of Asian Art for an exclusive Diez y Seis de Septiembre sneak peek at Clay Between Two Seas: From the Abbasid Court to Puebla de los Angeles. Late Night at the DMA includes talks on Fair Park Deco, World’s Fair of 1893, and Gershwin classics.
