It's a multimedia dance theatre set to jazz and Negro spirituals choreographed by Matthew Rushing, Associate Artistic Director of the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre. Tribute originally premiered in Dallas in 2016 with support from the TACA Donna Wilhelm Family New Works Fund.
