Dallas Children's Theater presents Social Justice Play Series

Dallas Children’s Theater continues its commitment to using the power of theater to spark important conversation about race by producing a series of short plays by award-winning playwright, poet, and changemaker Idris Goodwin.

The three short shows, dubbed the ‘Social Justice Play Series,’ will be available completely free of charge, starting with The Water Gun Song, available starting September 25. Two talkbacks will be a part of each release. Talkbacks will take place on September 26 (2 pm), October 2 (7 pm), October 17 (2 pm), October 23 (7 pm), November 7 (2 pm), and November 13 (7 pm).

Schedule of events

  • September 25-October 4: The Water Gun Song - A parent tries to find the words to explain why a water gun isn't simply a toy.
  • October 16-25: Nothing Rhymes with Juneteenth - A child and a parent try to complete a rap for a school presentation.
  • November 6-15: #Matter - Two former high school friends debate matters of life and race.
