The Trustees of the Dallas Historical Society will present the 2018 Awards for Excellence in Community Service. This honor is bestowed on selected recipients who have demonstrated generosity of spirit, civic leadership, and ability to encourage community-wide participation in a particular phase of the growth of the city. The recipients will be honored at the 37th Awards for Excellence luncheon.
Former award recipients Marnie and Kern Wildenthal will serve as 2018 honorary co-chairs. Laurie and Phil Evans are the 2018 event co-chairs, with Louise Caldwell as coordinator/advisor. Marnie and Kern Wildenthal have provided volunteer leadership for numerous educational and charitable organizations through their generous gifts of time and resources to the community. Among their many contributions, they have established an endowment for Literacy Achieves, formerly Vickery Meadow Learning Center.
