The Dallas Institute of Humanities and Culture will engage the conversation occurring nation-wide about poetry’s resurgent influence in America today with award-winning poets Dana Gioia, Frederick Turner, and James Matthew Wilson, titled Poetry in America: A Roundtable and a Reading. The event will include two evenings with the poets.

On the first evening, Gioia, Turner, and Wilson will discuss poetry as an art form, the role it has played in our culture, and the impact it promises to have in the future as the practice and popularity of it grows among young people. The three poets will delve into their own experiences in poetry, their relationship to the poetic tradition, the major influences on their work, and their own practice of the craft, among other things. On the second evening, the poets will read from and speak about their own work. Audience discussion will be a significant part of both evenings.
