eventdetail

Inspired by the poems of Walt Whitman and the brass fanfares of Tchaikovsky, Frederick Converse composed his orchestral fantasy in 1904. Copland’s first major orchestral work, Organ Symphony, intertwines jazzy rhythms and bluesy melodies with flurries in the winds and whimsical brass outbursts.

Selections for the concert include Converse's "The Mystic Trumpeter," Copland's "Organ Symphony" and Brahms' "Symphony No. 1."

The concert features resident organist Bradley Hunter Welch under the direction of Fabio Luisi.
