Pianist Emanuel Ax's playing has been called "ravishing" and "full of bravura." In this concert, he will perform what is often called Mozart's finest piano concerto. Shostakovich's Symphony No. 8 is the second of the composer's "war symphonies" and reflects upon the philosophical tolls of war and humanity's yearning for a true and total peace.
