Acevedo, National Book Award-winning author of The Poet X, presents the new bookFamily Lore, which portrays a Dominican American family told through the voices of its women. Flor has a gift - she has an uncanny ability to predict when someone will die. So when she decides she wants a living wake so that she can participate in the celebration of her life, her sisters are worried.

Spanning three days prior to the wake, Family Lore traces the lives of each of the Marte women, weaving together past and present, Santo Domingo and New York City, creating an indelible portrait of one family’s journey through their history.
