A fictional New England town. Two women teachers unjustly accused of lesbian activity by one of their students. The outraged community quickly withdraws their students from the girls' boarding school, causing a witch hunt that ultimately forces the school to close.
The teachers head to court to protect their names. Ultimately life-changing for the characters, the now classic The Children's Hour had a controversial premiere that caused the author to be blacklisted from Hollywood. It's a haunting story of how intolerance wreaked havoc on women's lives.
