Family Compass presents North Star Luncheon

Family Compass will highlight Elizabeth Smart as the featured speaker for its 2022 North Star Luncheon, an annual fundraiser to raise awareness on how to stop child abuse before it occurs. Shelly Slater will be the emcee of the luncheon, and the Richardson/Plano Kappa Delta Alumnae Chapter will be the recipients of the 2022 North Star Award.

An advocate for change related to child abduction, recovery, programs and national legislation, Smart’s own abduction was on of the most followed cases of our time. After being held prisoner for nine grueling months, police safely returned her back to her family. She triumphantly testified before her captors and the world about the very private nightmare she suffered during her abduction, which ultimately led to a conviction.
