Fine Arts Chamber Players will present the annual Hallam Family Concerts series. This season's theme is "Through the Looking Glass," which conjures up the delightful whimsey of Lewis Carroll and the sometimes terrifying ways that perspective-shifts influence the perception of reality.
In the music of William Grant Still, Michael Ippolito, and Claude Debussy, one hears both the sacred power of the ancient world and modern secularism and innovation. From the myth of Theseus and the Minotaur to the evocation of the ennanga, an African harp, these pieces for harp, piano and string quartet reimagine the past in the music of the present.
The program includes Claude Debussy's Danses Sacrée et Profane, Michael Ippolito's Mythos for solo harp, Henriette Renié's Andante religioso and Scherzo fantaisie, and William Grant Still's Ennanga.
Performers include The Cézanne Quartet, Emily Levin, and Michael Ippolito.
