Derek Black is the son of a grand wizard of the Ku Klux Klan. Matthew Stevenson is an Orthodox Jew. Black was taught to hate everything Stevenson stood for. When their paths crossed in college and Black was outed as a member of the white nationalist movement, Stevenson invited him to Shabbat dinner, offering him a chance to learn more about the people he hated. Black ultimately renounced white nationalism, and both men continue to speak out about the dangers of blind hatred.
