The Goldmark Cultural Center’s Norman Brown Gallery will present "Domestic Ecotone," a solo exhibition featuring figurative ceramics and functional pottery by Amy Henson.

Henson is a ceramic artist whose research centers on figurative or sculptural functional pottery. Currently Henson’s concepts focus on maternal feminism, inspired by the challenges of her lived experience as a woman, artist, and mother, and real or imagined flora and fauna mythic enough to reflect marginalization and the human psyche.

Subjects include domesticated animals like horses, wildlife perceived as pest animals such as opossums and raccoons, as well as creatures from the fantastic bestiary like cryptids. Humble red earthenware softly textured with pinch marks presents an ideal foundation to communicate aspects of marginalization associated with craft and function.

Following the opening reception, the exhibit will be on view through October 30.
