To celebrate the days of sun and sea, the shop owners of Typo, a campus of historic storefronts just west of the Bishop Arts District, will host Tiki at Typo.
Friday night caters to adults and accompanied children. Shops will stay open late and offer sales on unique merchandise, along with complimentary tropical drinks. Men’s clothier DLM Supply will host Hari Mari’s “flip-flop drop” to collect used footwear for the needy. Visitors can eat poke at BB Bop, snap a beach-themed selfie at Dallas Bike Works, do the “monkey” to surf tunes at Spinster Records, find the perfect pair of shades at Glass Optical, or score a gourmet ice cream sandwich at JOY Macarons. Typo’s sidewalks will be lined with food trucks, pop-up vendors, live music – and tiki torches, of course.
Kids can be kids on Saturday morning. On the Typo stage, next to the famous kinder-bus behind Davis Street Espresso, children can play in the sand and water, compete in a hula-hoop competition, sing along with entertainers, or participate in guided crafts. Regular Saturday-morning art classes will be in full swing at Oil & Cotton. The Burger Man will serve free hotdogs and lemonade. Among the dozens of choices, there’s a popsicle to match every bathing suit at Encanto Pops.
