The Irving Convention and Visitors Bureau gets a leg up on National Dog Day with a special “Yappy Hour” on the eve of the annual celebration. Canines and their human friends will be welcomed to the Irving Convention Center for plenty of free goodies and fun.
Don’t have a dog yet or want to add to your pet family? Adopt at the event, where Dog and Kitty City Shelter, a no kill Dallas Country shelter, will be on hand to match deserving doggies to their forever homes. The Community Pet Outreach Mobile Clinic will offer low cost vaccinations. Food trucks will also be on hand to provide refreshments for humans.
National Dog Day celebrates all breeds, pure and mixed, and serves to build public awareness of the number of dogs that need to be rescued each year, either from public shelters, rescues and pure breed rescues. The observance honors family dogs as well as dogs who work selflessly to provide safety and comfort.
