Bienvenidos Valeria will showcase flamenco featuring guest artists from Venezuela, Mexico, Cuba, and Spain with an internationally renowned collection of singers, guitarists, dancers and percussionists in an invigorating evening.
A Kresge Artist Fellow, Valeria Montes, will headline the show. She is known as La Chispa, the Spark, for her passionate and vibrant interpretation of Cante Flamenco, flamenco song, and for her complex rhythmic zapateado.
Joining Montes are Julia Alcántara, artistic director of Ida y Vuelta Flamenco, Juani de la Isla, a highly respected flamenco guitarist, and Adrian Cabeza Domínguez, singer. Both hail from Cadiz, Spain, the most famous city in the ‘crib’ of flamenco dance and singing. Also featured are Venezuelan musician Pedro Lattouf, demonstrating the influence of flamenco on Venezuelan music, and Carlos Garcia from Sevilla, Spain.
Following the performance at The Door will be an After Party at Maracas Mexican Cuisine, walking distance from The Door. Guests can enjoy the late-night menu and open dance floor featuring Venezuelan musician Pedro Lattouf and Carlos Garcia from Sevilla, Spain, performing dance music from Latin America and Spain.
