Kettle Art Gallery presents Marc Dominus: "Beyond Definition" opening reception

Kettle Art Gallery will present artist Marc Dominus, who is best known for having sold two pieces to K-Pop sensations BTS member "V" a few year back when he and others wandered into Kettle on a cool and dismal September evening. Marc's work was suddenly thrust into into the hearts of hundreds of thousands of teenage girls worldwide.

At the age of 65, Dominus transitioned a lifetime passion for painting into a full-time profession. With knives, spatulas and brushes he wrangles paint to create shapes, layers, texture & depth, to capture the inspiration & energy he’s feeling at the moment.

His interest in layering paint is a translation of what he sees when looking around, noting that all is neither flat or without contrast. From the artist studio, he looks through the window to observe trees, birds, clouds and on and on, layer after layer. These layers reflect the subtle complexities of our lives.

A painting feels complete when his thirst for adventure dissipates into a relaxed and coherent reflection of the road traveled. These paintings document an energy and feeling generated through his painting process; a diary-like record of spiritual self which goes "Beyond Definition."
