Kirk Hopper Fine Art, in cooperation with Alexandre Gallery, New York will present a two-person exhibit featuring artists Lois Dodd and Roger Winter.
Dodd and Winter are both prolific artists in their own right and have been friends over 40 years. Both artists have followed their own path and developed their own distinct style but share the same sensibility when it comes to realism. They often paint the same subjects - houses, trees, urban buildings - but their approach evolves from different origins.
The ethos of Dodd's painting is the broadly brushed surface of Painterly Realism, a loosely painted plein air style that began during the reign of Action Painting. Winter’s paintings show a post Pop, Photo Realist influence. But the form consciousness of American Modernism is alive and well in both of their works and will be clearly seen in this exhibition.
Following the opening reception, the exhibit will be on view through June 9.
