Laura Rathe Fine Art, will present "Metamorphosis," a two-person show featuring new works by Charles Patrick and Paul Rousso.
Both Patrick and Rousso are masters of transforming 2-D materials into three-dimensional works of art. They each source vintage materials such as newspapers, magazines, comics, currency, maps, flags, and other ephemera. Living in a world between the paper and digital ages, both artists give new life to these materials through their complex and layered processes; and even incorporate the butterfly as a symbol of this rebirth.
By scanning and sculpting, cutting and shaping, and firing and pinning, both artists speak to the conversion of materials and construction of a new kind of Metamorphosis.
Following the opening reception, the exhibit will be on display through February 12.
