Laura Rathe Fine Art will present the solo exhibition "I Am the Sun," featuring new works by Meredith Pardue.
The exhibition is rooted in humankind’s relationship with the sun, and the inherent mystery and rituals this rapport has inspired throughout human history. Pardue’s palette ranges from explosive saturation to moody and dark monochromes. The mark making of this body of work spans from brushwork reminiscent of mid-century abstract expressionists to raw, primitive strokes. The exhibition also includes compositions with pod like forms that seem to undulate around, within, and beyond the parameters of the canvas in what has become Pardue’s signature aesthetic over the last decade.
The artist will be in attendance on May 15 from 1-4 pm. Appointments are recommended for the opening days. The exhibition will be on view through June 26.
