Liliana Bloch Gallery will present a new exhibition, Semantic Field, featuring the works of Dallas-based artist Ryan Goolsby.

Goolsby draws influence from symbols used to convey information (scientific or mathematical in nature) as a means to question our belief and knowledge structure. The forms Goolsby creates often make reference these symbols (diagrams or illustrations) used to transfer empirical information that must be trusted in our position as the layperson. This relationship extends beyond the scientific, abandoning their original implications,  and gravitates towards formal aspects and semantic content. Through this exploration of people's relationship to this data the artist hopes to light the way to how they approach information. His works are not always exact illustrations of the scientific diagrams, that inaccuracy brings into question the models we have come to take as true.   
      
Following the opening reception, the exhibit will be on display through December 6.
