The ArthouseFW - Students of Roger Corman series explores the direct influence of B-movie master and iconic independent producer Roger Corman on a younger generation of filmmakers whose work would carry on Corman's innovative spirit to independent film and Hollywood studios alike. The series follows these "students" through the decades, as they adapt Corman's pioneering sense of filmmaking into definitive careers of their own.

When Sam Deeds (Chris Cooper) believes he has discovered the body of his brutal predecessor Charlie Wade (Kris Kristofferson), the investigation leads him across the literal and political landscape of West Texas, uncovering stories of violence and corruption in his border town community. Written and directed by Corman alum John Sayles, co-starring a young Matthew McConaughey, and exploring the border life in the modern age, Lone Star is a testament to the longevity and evolution that the "students of Roger Corman" attained.
