For the fifth year Mary Tomas Gallery welcomes the Creative Arts Center of Dallas (CAC) Annual Juried Membership Exhibition. The juried exhibit opens up an opportunity for selected CAC members to display and sell their works in a professional gallery setting.

The juried exhibit selects 20-30 exceptional works from 150 entries that delight patrons looking for new discoveries. Emerging, seasoned artists and photographers or craftsman will present a variety of disciplines including: mixed media painting, drawing, photography, printmaking, mosaic, fused glass, sculpture and more.

This year's jurors are Michael Heinlen, owner JM Gallery, and partner in the Intellectual Property section of Thompson & Knight LLP. Maria Teresa Garcia-Pedroche, head of Community Engagement for the DMA and Mary Tomás, teacher, artist and owner of Mary Tomas Gallery.

In addition, the gallery will be presenting Radar II. Featuring emerging artists who the gallery staff has selected that exhibit tremendous talent and show potential for growth while bringing new ideas to our patrons.

Artists include:

  • Recent graduate of Booker T. Washington High School for the Visual and Performing Arts, Nik Hermavoski. On display will be samples of his exceptional figurative painting and progressive ceramic objects.
  • Megan Ping returns with her unique take for the unusual subject matter with her playful depictions of figures done in elaborately constructed colored duct tape.
  • Joseph Racz, also a recent graduate form the Arts Magnet High School, astounds us with his bold figurative painting style that belies his young age.

Each artist expresses his or her keen observation of the human figure through their modern portraiture style that combines a sense of shock, confrontation, question, or story telling.

Following the opening reception, the exhibits will be on display through September 3.
