The Summer Repertoire features a wide variety of ballet, from the ease and innocence of Album for the Young with music by one of America’s living composers, Lowell Liebermann, to the innovation of Igor Stravinsky’s compositions in “Serenade in A” and “For Five”. The dramatic world premiere, "Masquerade Variations" by guest choreographer, Iain Archer with music by Aram Khachaturian. The evening culminates with Mr. Mejia’s romantic and dynamic Sarasate with music by Pablo de Sarasate, which embodies his artistry, versatility, musicality, mastery of technical perfection, and skill to entice his young dancers to convey and exude their ownership of his creation.
Mejia Ballet International will be featuring Mr. Mejia’s son, Roman Julian Mejia, who has become the youngest male apprentice of one of the foremost dance companies in the world, New York City Ballet. Roman will be joined by a select group of extraordinary young dancers from both Mejia Ballet International and NYCB.
As a spotlight of the evening, Roman Mejia will be performing the utterly, subtle solo, “For Five” with Stravinsky's score "The Five Fingers."
